These three trade clusters are seen as core strategic assets that are unique to Paris region. While each of these trade clusters already boasts world-class leaders in their fields, Paris Développement will nurture and promote their interests to help ensure their continuing dynamic growth.

 DIGITAL:


Paris region is already a European leader in the digital world with particular expertise in software development, software services, multimedia and video-games. The backbone to the Paris area’s strength in digital technology is the extent and quality of its higher-level education. World majors such as Microsoft, Cap Gemini, Apple, Oracle, Business Objects, SAP, are established members of the Paris region business community and work together with innovative SMEs to foster a culture of innovation. Today Paris is the most dynamic city in France and one of the most in Europe in this field. Paris Développement has established several corporate incubators and ‘Cyber Villages’ to help young companies and to promote cross-fertilisation between companies in the digital world.

 HEALTH:


The Paris region counts nearly 50% of French public and private sector research spend in biotechnology, making it the clear national leader in this field. The ingredients for a dynamic trade cluster are all present:

• a concentration of prestigious research-hospitals
• numerous public and private-sector laboratories  
• a rich fabric of companies from innovative start-up to established trans-national corporations 
  
   

Paris Développement has several initiatives to help foster cross-group discussions and projects. These include corporate incubators under Paris Biotech or Pasteur BioTop.

 DESIGN:


Paris has a long history of being at the forefront of world fashion. Today, 30,000 people are employed in the sector and 70% of all design companies are located in the Paris region. Several prestigious schools contribute to Paris’ renown: l’ENSAD, Les Gobelins and l’ENSCI are amongst the world leaders for higher-education in design.

Paris Développement has created two corporate incubators dedicated to servicing design companies, encouraging young innovative design companies to network, establish partnerships and develop.
