Over 45% of France's, public and private sector health-related research, is located in Paris itself. This extreme concentration and high level of research, ensures a technical competence giving Paris all the ingredients to be one of Europe’s leading Health and Biotech clusters.
Even more focused, in terms of Biotech, 43% of all French Biotech companies and 62% of all Biotech research is conducted in Paris.
In terms of fundamental and applied research, several world recognised centres of excellence are located in Paris, including the Institute Curie, Institute Pasteur, National Centre for Research (INSERM), National Health and Research Institute (INSERM), National Institute for Aids Research (ANRS), as well as the many universities, prestigious medical schools and hospitals. In addition, Paris Développement recently created two incubators called “Paris Biotech Health” and “Paris BioTop”.
Paris Développement, through its technical structures, organises continued education and training, including evening debates as well as an extensive calendar of events covering relevant and topical themes.
A brief focus upon the hospitals of Paris and its regions, reveals some 39 hospitals (of which 17 are in Paris), providing some 25,000 beds as well as nearly 1, 500 reception services in 750 medical centres, representing some 90,000 persons in 150 distinct medical facilities.
